All-About-Me Start your yearbook with a form where students can add their name, grade and other detail about themselves - their greatest accomplishment of the year, their favourite class, their most memorable moment, etc.
Teacher Candids In addition to their formal school portraits, add a few fun pages of candid photos. Show teachers being themselves - do they have any habits or expressions they are famous for?
Classroom Candids Between portrait pages, add candids focused on a particular class or grade. Themes may include a special art or science project, self-portraits, a quotes page, photos taken in the classroom, or a special field trip.
Clubs Pages Ask your clubs to submit a group shot. If space allows, add extra photos of the activities they organized. Include a brief mission statement or a description of their year.
Sports Teams Organize a team photo day using the school bleachers. Depending on how much space you can allot, include a single grouped photo with team members names in a caption next to the photo, or create a larger page or two to include candid game day and practice photos, as well as team stats.
Yearbook Cover Contest If your school runs a design contest for the cover, include some of the notable entries in a collage-style page inside or on the back cover of the book.
Field Trips Set aside some space for multi-class or multi-grade off-campus activities. Ask an organizer to include a short write-up about the event to give the photos some context.
Performance Create a special thematic section to showcase band, theatre, and dance performances at your school. If the school musical is a big deal at your school, give it featured section.
Spirit Days & Fundraising Activities Be sure to document activities that brought your school together: book fairs, homecoming events, carnivals, dances, bake sales, dress-up days, charity walks/runs... if your school came together for a special occasion, be sure to document it.
Dedication Pages Reserve a space for people departing your school community, including job transfers, retirements or in memoriam. Think about volunteers who are leaving the school as their kids graduate as well.
Volunteer Appreciation Page Include your PTA, Home & School, and/or Governing board members and ask their president to include a few words about their accomplishments during the year.
Community Advertising Pages Your yearbook can be a fundraiser. Offer ads (1/8, 1/4. 1/2 and full page) to local merchants. Ads may include a business-card or a special message to your school or graduating class.
and don't forget... The Yearbook Committee Page Show off your smiling faces and get the credit you deserve! |
