Text plays a crucial role in the creation of a yearbook, allowing you to emphasize specific parts of a page, such as titles, subtitles, and paragraphs. Memento Yearbook offers a variety of features to make your text stand out and enhance the overall design of your yearbook.

Add Text

A - Click on the Text Icon:

  • To add a text object to your page, simply click on the Text icon.

B - Initial Text Display:

  • By default, the newly added text object is named "Add Text Here" and is highlighted with a pink background. This feature makes it easy to locate the new text object on your page, especially when working with a lot of elements. The pink background will disappear as soon as you start editing the text.

C - Accessing Text Options:

  • When one or more text objects are selected, the Text Tab menu option (top) becomes available. Clicking on it will reveal the text dialog (left panel) with all available options for customization.

Edit Text

A - Edit Text:

  • To modify the text, enter your desired content in the Edit box located on the left side. As you type, the changes will update in real-time on your page.

B - Resize Text Editing Area:

  • You can resize the text area by holding and dragging the mouse downward to adjust the height of the text box. This makes it easier to edit and view your text within the available space.

Resizing a Text Object

To resize the text box, click and hold the vertical blue bar on the side of the text object. While holding down the mouse button, drag the bar to adjust the size of the text box. Once you have the desired size, release the mouse button.

Rotate Text

As shown by letter A, click and hold down the mouse on the Rotate icon to start rotating the text frame.

TIP: Hold down the ALT key while rotating to enable snapping, allowing you to rotate the frame in 7.5-degree increments.

Change Text Color

Click on the square color tile to open the Color Picker tool, where you can select and change the text color.

Change Font

Click on the Font drop-down menu to reveal all available fonts. You can scroll through the complete font list using the scroll bar and click on the font you want to use. Your text will update in real-time to reflect the newly selected font.

Click here to see all available fonts.

Change Font Size

Click on the Font Size drop-down menu to reveal all available sizes. You can scroll through the size presets using the scroll bar and click on the size you want to apply. Your text will update in real-time to reflect the new size.

Tip: For faster results, you can also directly enter a number into the font size field.

Set the Text Bold or Italic

When selecting a font, you may have the option to adjust its Weight (Bold) or Style (Italic). However, please note that some fonts do not support changes to their weight or style.

Tip: If the font you've chosen does not include a bold option and you'd like to increase its visual weight, try using the Outline Size feature. This can help make the text appear bolder even when the font itself doesn't offer a bold setting.

Text Alignment

Depending on the situation, you may want to align the text differently. You have the following alignment options:

  • Left: Aligns the text to the left.
  • Right: Aligns the text to the right.
  • Center: Centers the text.
  • Justify: Aligns the text evenly across the width, giving it a newspaper-style appearance.
Note: When using the Justify option, be aware that it can introduce a lot of blank space between words to ensure the text fits the column. This may create a visual effect that you might not prefer.

Line Spacing

Line Spacing allows you to adjust the distance between lines of text. This feature is especially useful when selecting different fonts, as it helps ensure optimal visibility. Proper line spacing is crucial for creating clear and readable titles that span two lines, as well as for maintaining the readability of paragraphs.

Character Spacing

Character Spacing allows you to adjust the distance between individual characters. This feature is particularly useful for titles, especially one-word titles, where you can create striking visual effects. By carefully spacing the characters, you can add a unique touch to your yearbook and make specific sections stand out beautifully.

Outline Size and Color

The Outline feature allows you to add a border around your text, enhancing its creative possibilities. This feature also lets you change the outline color, giving you even more options to make your text stand out and complement your design.

Shadow

To add a shadow, select your text frame and then click on Shadow on the top menu. Turn on the shadow on the right-side menu.

Adjust the color of the shadow by clicking on the color chip, then select a new shade (and opacity, if desired).

Adjust the shadow effects as required. Increase the depth of the shadow to make the text appear as if it were floating over the page. Change the direction of the shadow using the angle slider. Use the blur slider to sharpen the shadow or make a soft diffuse effect. (Double-click on the slider button to reset it back to the default.)
